Just may have been a short marriage - divorce?
The Illinois Archives' Civil War Muster and Descriptive Rolls Databasedoes not list an Orlando
Spencer. In fact, the only Orlando fromanywhere in Ancestry's American Civil War Soldier files was
OrlandoByron Spencer, son of Horace and Eveline Spencer of Davis Co., IA.However, this guy was
about the same age and also born in PA. He was aresident of Davis County when he enlisted in Co D,
45th IA Infantry 25May 1864 [mustered out 16 Sep 1864]. He filed for an invalid pensionfrom IL in
1904; his wife, Emma C, applied for widow's pension from MOin 1907.

Announcement is made this week of the engagement and forthcomingmarriage of Miss Delsa Davis,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Davisof Farr West, to Don F. Colvin, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. F.
Colvin, 3611Kiesel.
The date of the marriage has been set for Aug. 29, and will besolemnized in the Salt Lake L.D.S.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of Weber college where she wasaffiliated with Sharmea social club,
being president for one year. Shewas a member of the band, served as vice president to the
sophomoreclass and was active in other social affairs on the campus.
The bridegroom-elect served in the armed forces for 18 months,spending some time in Greenland. He
attended Weber college and theU.S.A.C. and recently returned from an L.D.S. mission, six months
ofwhich he was second counselor to the mission president, Carl Burton.
The couple will make their home in Ogden following their marriage.

One of the loveliest of later summer weddings was that of Miss DelsaDavis, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. James A. Davis, of Farr West, to DonF. Colvin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin F. Colvin, 3611
Kiesel Ave.
The wedding vows were exchanged in the Salt Lake L. D. S. temple, Aug.29, with Apostle Mark E.
Peterson officiating. The impressive ceremonywas followed by a reception at the Wahlquist school,
with six hundredguests attending.
The bride's wedding gown, which was adorned with seed pearls andsequins, was styled with a tight
fitting bodice and a full skirtentrain. Her veil of imported bride's illusion fell from a tiara
ofseed pearls. She carried a bridal bouquet of pink carnations centeredwith purple orchids.
In gowns of pastel shades and carrying nose gays of carnations werethe bride's attendants, Miss
Helen Messerly, Miss Lorna Powell, Mrs.Robert Dabling, and Miss Zelda Jensen.
Little Evelyn and Lorraine Davis, sisters of the bride, were flowergirls. They were dressed in
green and yellow gowns.
The mothers of the couple wore teal blue and pale rose colored gownscomplemented by corsages of
talisman roses.
Acting as best man was Harold Cropper.
A special feature of the refreshment table was a three-tired weddingcake topped by a miniature
bride and bridegroom.
Lighted white tapers completed the setting. Guests were served atsmall tables centered with
nose-gays of roses.

Randall of Eden, when their daughter, Melva,was married to Donald J. Willett, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Ward H. Willett.
The bride was dressed in Wisteria lace and carried an arm bouquet ofgarden flowers.  She was
attended by the sister of the bridegroom,Mrs. Edwin Horton, who wore Alice blue lace and also
carried an armbouquet of garden flowers.

Lohengrin march was played by Wilma Randall, sister of the bride.Rev. W. H. Cutler performed the
ceremony.  A reception followed forthe immediate families at the home of the bride.
