Thursday evening, April 11, was theoccasion of a most brilliant social event at Bay Shore at
theresidence of John Hamilton. It was the marriage of their daughterSophia to J. P. Colvin, of
Vickery, by Rev. Rutledge. At exactly 7:30p. m. at the sound of a wedding march the bridal party,
consisting ofthe bride and groom, attended by Miss Nellie and Mr. Londo Hamilton,brother and
sister of the bride, descended to the family sitting room,where the guests were standing to
receive them.
After the ceremony and congratulations the guests were invited to abounteous repast such as only
the ladies of Townsend can prepare.After the super was disposed of Mr. and Mrs. Colvin
immediatelydeparted for their home at York Station, which was prepared andwaiting for them.
The bride and groom were the recipients of a large number of valuablepresents, of which we give
the following list: Mr. and Mrs. J. W.Colvin, set chairs; Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Winters and Mrs.
Deyo, oakrocker; J. Hamilton, sr., set silver table spoons; Mrs. J. Hamilton,bed spread; J. M.
Hamilton, a cow; Mrs. Lucy Reed, lamp; EugeneWinters, pair shears, Mrs. Byron, six sheets, two
head rests, tidy andstand; Miss Anna Fink, pair towels; Lillian Byron, comfort; WillieByron, six
napkins; Mrs. Barden, bread plate; Mr. and Mrs. J. B.Morris, table spread; Mr. and Mrs. W. W.
Warren, table; L. MondColvin, table; Nellie Hamilton, six pillow cases; Aunt Mary Hamilton,$5;
