Former Wauseon Resident Burl L. Young, age 82, passed away May 10, 1999 at Springfield, Missouri hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Young was a plaster by trade, which he learned in Detroit in the late 30's. It was there he met his wife, Lola A. Strayer. They made there home in Wauseon from 1940 until 1946 when they moved to Lynchburg, Missouri. He farmed as well as following his trade. He was of the Free Will Baptist faith. Mr. Young is survived by two daughters, Juanita (Leroy) McConnell of LaPlata, Missouri and Caroline (Lawrence) McKinnon of St. Roberts, Missouri; two sons, Rev. Thomas (Lorie) Young of Madrid, Spain and Billy (Lynene) Young of Gold Bar, Washington; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nora Wilson and Mary Young of St. Lewis and Thelma Allen of Oklahoma City; one brother, James O. Young of Farmington, Mn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola, on May 20, 1994; a daughter, Shirley Ann; and two sons, Leroy and Roger. Burial was May 13, 1999 in Mount Carney, Missouri Cementery. Note: Burl Leslie Young was married to Lola A. Strayer. Lola was the daughter of Arby Clay Strayer (1894 – 1981 & Gladys Bittikofer (1897 – 1981). Return To The Index |
