OBITUARY NOTICES


     Jacob S. Mizer son of John and Julia Ann Mizer was born in Coshocton Co. Ohio, October 20, 1843 and died in his home in Delta, December 12, 1918. On Feb. 7, 1864 he enlisted as a soldier in the Civil War, being a member of Co. G, 80th O. V. I. He served to the end of the war marching with Sherman to the sea and in the grand review at Washington. On May 24, 1866 he was married to Delilah Schrock and together the same year they settled on the farm 5 miles north of Delta where from the nearly unbroken wilderness they carved out a splendid home. To them were born twelve children, seven of whom have preceded him in death. Those living are Romeo D., William A. Mizer, Mrs. C. P. Hopkins, Mrs. Wm. Harmon and Mrs. Clarence R. Ohlinger, all of whom live in or near Delta.

     He was converted in 1866 joining the Reform church. At the time of his death he was a member of the United Brethren church, Delta. He was for many years a member of McQuillin Post G. A. R. He leaves to mourn, a wife, two brothers, five children.
