Buried Today ------------- Was Veteran Director Of Loan Association Lifelong Delta Resident -------------- Thoms E. Goodwin, 77, lifelong resident of Delta, died Tuesday, his death following a lengthy period of failing health. Mr Goodwin was born November 7, 1869 on the homestead farm 1/2 –mile east of Delta. He was the son of the late Thomas and Rosella Goodwin, pioneers of the community. The deceased spent most of his life on the farm. With Mrs. Goodwin he moved to Delta about 12 years ago. During his residence here Mr. Goodwin was active in community and business affairs. He served as a director and appraiser for First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Delta, was a member of the Church of Christ and Odd Fellows order. Mr. Goodwin married Miss Ruth Tremain 59 years ago. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Helen Harmon of Delta, three sons, Pierce and Charles of Fort Wayne, and Leon of Detroit; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, A. P. Goodwin, and sister Mrs. C. A. Knapp. In his long and active life, Mr. Goodwin had become one of Delta's best-known residents, owner of a wide circle of friends in village and country. He was honored for his integrity, loyalty and industry. Services are being conducted this afternoon (Thursday) at two o'clock in Kuebler funeral home. Interment will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
