FAMILY BIBLE
Jacob Sidney Miser and Delilah Shrock were married on May 24, 1866 in German Township, Holmes County, Ohio at her Father's house. Their transcribed marriage certificate , which was in the family bible, provides some interesting information about the couple. Information about the various documents, corrections and clarrifications are shown inside of parens, ( ).Another embossed page from the bible provides space where the births of eighteen family members were recorded. The births of children and some grand children occurred between 1866 and 1917. The second major event, of most people's lives, was recorded on the Marriages page. Eleven marriages are recorded on this page from 1890 to 1913. Three of the marriages are second marriages; one by a daughter after a divorce and two by sons-in-laws after the daughter died at a young age. Enevitably death over takes us all. From the family bible Deaths page, eighteen dates of the deaths of family members were recorded. I believe that it was Julia (Mizer) Hopkins who recorded the marriages and children of John Shrock on a separate piece of paper. This paper was passed down to her daughter, Opal,. Opal in turn gave the pages of the family bible and the Shrock marriages page to Ethlyn (Mizer) Finley. Return To Family
