The following was written by Sheila (MARLATT) CHONKO, dashchonko@prodigy.net, about the WOOD & DANIELS families. The Wood/Daniels branch of ye olde family tree is me Mum's side, Leala Mae (WOOD) MARLATT. Carl L. Wood was her father; Lou L. Wood her grandfather; and John B. & Ellen T. [Daniels] Wood her great grandparents. The house built & lived in on the north edge of Lyons is still standing and quite livable. It is a 2 story brick home that was originally on 4 acres of land which was inherited by Ellen [Daniels] Wood from her parents. Not sure the total legal transactions at this time, however after the death of John B. & Ellen, the house was owned & lived in by Lou L. and Lela [Briggs] Wood. They reared their 2 children (Carl Leslie and Pearl Ellen) in that home. After the death of Lou L. Wood in 1829, his widow Lela, daughter Pearl, and son-in-law Roy Burry resided in that brick house. After the death of Lela (Briggs) Wood on 17 Jan 1973, Pearl and her husband Roy Burry were owners and resident of the family home. Pearl and Roy had reared their daughter Betty Lue [Burry] Champion in that home and she and her husband Clare Champion are now the owners. | ||
