After leaving Lyons in '63, I finished my senior year of high school in Mesa, AZ, then on to A.S.U. in Tempe for 5 years of undergraduate studies ( desert keggers were of special interest ).... After college, off to Chicago in '69, then Washington D.C. on a corporate gig with Bell & Howell for 3 years.
Realizing I wasn't cut out for Big Corporate America, I moved to Montana with my first wife in '72, did real estate for a few years, then opened three furniture stores ..... Two in MT and one in Boise, Idaho .... Owned and operated those for 30 years, sold the business in 2006 and retired. Divorced in 1985.
Two sons resulted from my marriage. Erin now 35, is a financial advisor for U.B.S. in Seattle. Drew, 30 years old, lives in Big Sky, MT, working as a tattoo artist, rock mason, and snow board enthusiast. Erin married a year ago, no kids yet, so no grandkids to date for me.
Roamed around the last two years deciding where to 'settle down'. Finally bought a house off the Olympic Peninsula on Marrowstone Island ( near Port Townsend ), where Michele and I watch bald eagles, boat, fish, do Dungeness crabbing when in season, beach comb, read, listen to music, play with our African Parrot Kola, and bike ride. ..... We're currently in search of at least 2 rescue dogs also. Additionally, I've been an avid golf freak for the past 30 some years, playing as often as weather permits, and spectating at many PGA events.
Michele and I also enjoy traveling. She owns an import company that takes us to India twice a year for a month or so, usually doing a stay over for a few days in Hong Kong. .....(. Interesting side note ,,, while staying in Hong Kong December '08, all the large high rise corporate buildings, Panasonic, Sony, MGM, etc turned off all exterior lighting at 11:00 p.m accept for one ,,, guess who ?? Yep, AIG. !!!!! Not only did they leave their lights on all night, they burned their signage 24 hours a day !!! And 'we the people' are giving them more bail out $ ??.... Go figure ) ... By the way, that's as political as I get. 30 years of retail taught me that expressing my religious and political preferences at my stores and in pubs was a sure way of losing customers and getting into bar room brawls.
Other than having open heart surgery in March of '05, I've been fortunate to remain hospital free. .... Bad genes from Max and Irene evidently, as both parents died of coronary heart failure when I was in my late 20's. And my sisters, Analee and Maxene, both died in their late 50's from cancer.
All my photos are still packed away, so I'll wear a sandwich board or something to identify myself at the reunion. Maybe I can dig up some recent underexposed digitals to forward from my lap top. ?
Anxious to see the 'old gang' in May. !
