Spouse is Jerry I. Clum, Sr. We’ve been married for 45 years this June. We have 3 sons, eight grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren.
Jerry, Jr. and Melissa were married February 14 this year on Grand Caymen Island. Jerry, Jr. is an entrepreneur. He was founder of Comfort Keepers ten years ago, an in home non-medical company. He grew it to well over 800 offices, then sold the company. He now has a chain of 24 hour fitness centers. He has a 21 year old daughter, Heather, in college at Case Western in Cleveland, a 15 year old son. Jerry III, known as Trey, and 2 stepdaughter, Kyla, 5 years old and Ela, 3 years old.
Bryan works for the United States Post Office here in Lima but lived in Phoenix, AZ. for 16 years prior. He has a son, Skylar, 16 years old who lives in Lima and a daughter, Saria, 9 years old and a son, Ashton, 6 years old who live in Phoenix.
Chad and Liz live in Sylvania and own the Performers School of Dance. They are both very active in Flag Corps and Winter Guards and marched with the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corp who own the Chesterfield school building in Oakshade. They also teach several school flag all over the state. Chad is Vice President of the Ohio Indoor Performance Association. They have 3 children, Maxine, 14 years old, Madeline, 7 years old, who you will be able to see in upcoming Toledo Zoo television commercials, and Quinton, 6 years old.
Jerry and I have traveled extensively, mostly across the USA. We were involved in sprint car racing for too many years to remember. Jerry had a local TV race show for 7 years and we had a video production company, Racing Review Video. We both also worked for Bullock Garages for over 20 years until 2001 when Jerry diagnosed with Mesothelioma, an asbestos related cancer and at that time was given 6 weeks to live. With no treatments whatsoever, because there are none for this cancer, the Good Lord intervened and Jerry’s cancer disappeared. I still have him with me eight years later. And he has went back to work.
I am retired now and am fighting Diabetes. While Jerry was ill we moved to Dayton to be closer to our oldest son but when the Lord saw fit to let me keep him a while longer, we moved back closer to Lima. My parents are still living and doing very well in Lima. My hobbies and interests include anything needlework, crocheting, knitting, cross stitch, and sewing. I even won some blue ribbons at the fair. But because of arthritis I now do much less needlework and a lot more gardening and book reading, reading 8 to 10 books a week. And my home is a mess.
I have very few good High School memories. We moved away from Lyons in October 1959, one month into the eighth grade. I never was able to make the adjustment from Lyons to Lima, my school was too big. My graduating class was over 600 students.
But one of my favorite childhood memories was playing in Jeannie Nolan’s attic. We would go up in the attic and play dolls all day long. Her mom would let us out when we sang “Open the Door Richard. Richard why don’t you open that door”. I also liked bike riding through the cemetery. I guess that’s because I was one of the Lyons “city” girls.
