FIRST (BRILL), Pauline Ruth March 4, 1922 - October 31, 2006 WESTON — Pauline Ruth First, age 84, of Weston passed away at home Tuesday, Oct. 31. 2006, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was under the excellent care of Hospice of Lenawee and her family. She was born at home in Wauseon, Ohio, on March 4, 1922, to Peter and Elizabeth (Miller) Brill. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1939. She married Welden W. First on Sept. 8, 1945, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1984. She was a homemaker most of her life and she loved Michigan winters, gardening, playing the piano, organ and accordion and cooking wonderful meals for her family, which we will never forget. “We love you Mom and we’ll miss you.” She was a member of the Weston Woman’s Club where she served as president some of those years, and was also an Auxiliary member of the G. Chandler Bond Post #275 American Legion where she loved being in the parades. Pauline was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and played the organ on some occasions. Pauline is survived by her children, Patrick W. First and Diana S. First, both of Weston, Stephanie K. (Gary) Russell of Oakshade, Ohio, and Kathleen J. Strech of Sand Creek. She was the loving grandmother of Stephen D. Strech of Sand Creek, Katrina M. (Corey) Pinter of Adrian and Jacob R. Strech of Sand Creek and was the great-grandmother of Kaylee Nicole Pinter. Pauline is also survived by her sisters, Rose Zenz, Betty (Cheo) Regalado; her aunt, Jean Miller; five nephews, five nieces and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Katherine (Baus) Miller and John and Eva (Riffle) Brill; her parents; sister, Martha A. Fanning; brothers-in-law, Harlan Rell, Howard First, Irv Fanning and Calvin Zenz; and aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Braun Everiss Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian, with the Rev. Joel Sarrault officiating. Interment will be at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions in Pauline’s name may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or to St. John’s Lutheran Church Building Fund.
