POCHAY, George & Vivian (AYERS)




     Vivian Inez (AYERS) Pochay, 79, of Lyons, died Tuesday (April 11, 1995) in Provincial House, Adrian , MI, after a long illness.

     A life-long resident of the area, Vivian and her husband operated Cut and Crystal Rock Shop near Lyons. A member of the State Line Gem and Mineral Society and the Toledo Rock Hound Club, she served as editor of the newsletters of both clubs, winning first place in regional competition among editors.

     Surviving are her husband George; children, Philip, Ann Marie Barber, George Jr.; niece Gail Mann; and seven grandchildren. Preceding her in death was a grandson, George Pochay III.

     Services 11 a.m. Friday in the Biehl-Malone Funeral Home, Lyons, where friends may call on Thursday after 7 p.m.

POCHAY George Joseph, Sr.

     George Joseph Pochay, Sr., 89, of Lyons, Ohio, died Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian, Michigan, following an extended illness. He was born October 12, 1914, in Scalplevel, Pennsylvania. He resided near Lyons for over 60 years, living on his farm until he was hospitalized.

     George was a devoted family man. On January 3, 1937, he married Vivian Inez Ayers in Auburn, Indiana. She preceded him in death April 11, 1995. His mother, Mary, a devout Catholic, and father, Valentine Pochay, both originally from Hungary; three brothers, Paul, Valentine, and Elmer; two sisters, Mary and Elizabeth, and a grandson, George Pochay, III also preceded him in death. Three children and their spouses, Philip and Ellen Pochay of Chelsea, MI, Ann and John Barber of Ludington, MI, and George Pochay, Jr. of Lyons, Ohio; eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and friends survive him.

     He and his wife were avid rock hounds. They owned the Cut & Crystal Rock Shop in Lyons. George was a charter member of the State Line Gem & Mineral Society of Adrian, serving many terms as president. He was an active member of the Toledo Gem & Rock Hound Club. Both groups will miss him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either club.

     The family will receive guests at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, Ohio on Friday, September 3rd, 2004 from 2 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, September 4th at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Reverend Steven J. Barber will officiate. Interment will follow at Lyons Cemetery.
