OBITUARY:
JAMES, Mary Lou
September 30, 2003

Mary Lou Ella James, 72, of Mesa died peacefully after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Mary Lou was born in Wauseon, Ohio on July 1, 1931. She had five brothers and was the apple of her father's eye.

It was love at first sight when she met her husband of almost 55 years, Jimmie C. James, in Ohio when he was playing football for Liberty High School and she was cheerleading for Lyons High School. They settled down in Mesa in 1963 where they raised their eight children.

Mary Lou went back to school at Mesa Community College after having her children and became an LPN. She loved her career as a nurse and also traveling with her husband. Most of all, she cherished time with her family and being a mother. She has been described by those who loved her most as always being the life of the party, a doting mother, and a guiding light and stronghold for her family.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her son, Jimmie C. James, Jr., and her daughters, Deborah Lee James and Jessica Anne James. She is survived by her husband, Jimmie; their children Susan Benedict (David), Rusty James, Jennifer James, Jay James (Joan) and Kris Aviano (Michael); their 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 633 S. Higley Road in Mesa. Bunker's University Chapel handled the services.

Additional: Mary Lou and her husband, Jimmie, moved from Lyons to Mesa in 1963. Her parents were Fred and Sarah (Jackson) Peebles. Mary Lou had five brothers who are now deceased: Ralph, Gerald, Harold, Charles and Freddie. Survived by Sisters-in-law Helen Peebles and Laura Peebles.
