OBITUARY:
SNIDER, Max Eugene
September 27, 2009




Max E. Snider      Max Eugene Snider, 83, formerly of Fayette, Ohio, passed away on October 4, 2009, in Clute Texas at the home of his son, Jeffrey Snider. He was born February 1, 1926, to the late George and Lucinda Snider of Fayette, OH. Max married Betty Jo Rusher on July 28, 1946, and they shared 52 years of marriage. She preceded Max in death in 1998.

     Max enlisted in the US Navy after graduating high school. He served 2 ½ years in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. After his return from WWII, he took a job as a fuel jockey and tire man at the Triangle Truck Stop in Fayette. He was a contract carrier for the Toledo Blade for 17 years. Max retired on January 27, 1989, from UPS in Maumee, OH after 21 years of service. Following retirement, Max moved to Lake Jackson, TX where he enjoyed ushering in the Lake Jackson Theater for several years.

     Max was a member of the American Legion John Dale Post 143 in Fayette for 62 years. He served on the Fayette Village Council for many years. Max also served his community as a proud member of the Gorham Fayette Fire Department for 41 years, until retiring February 2, 1989.

     Max is survived by three sons, Joseph (Patricia) Snider of Fayette, Jeffrey (Pamela) Snider of Clute, TX, and Steven (Tina) Snider of Fayette; one daughter, Lynn (Allen) Moldenhauer of Glennallen, VA; eighteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Myrna (Robert) Rowland of Lake Alfred, FL, and June (Fred) Eicher of Archbold, OH.

     Besides his wife and parents, Max was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Yost; a son, Keith Snider; a daughter, Laurie Snider; and two grandchildren, Matthew Snider and Jennifer Snider.

     A memorial visitation for Max E. Snider will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009, from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m., at the Gorham Fayette Fire Department, Main Street, Fayette. The burial ceremony will follow at the Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette, with Rev. Katherine Currier officiating, and full military honors conducted by the Fulton County Honor Guard.

     In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gorham Fayette Fire Department or the American Legion John Dale Post 143.

     Local arrangements were entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette.
