OBITUARY:
NICHOLS, Glenn W.
May 6, 2009




     Glenn W. Nichols, age 78, of Assumption, Ohio, passed away in his home, Wednesday afternoon, May 6, 2009. He was born April 14, 1931, in Lyons, Ohio to Walter and Elizabeth (Marley) Nichols.

     Glenn worked 34 years at American Chain and Cable in Adrian, Michigan, where he retired in 1984. During his younger years, Glenn enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family. His favorite pastimes were playing cards with his brothers and sisters, and surfing the internet for the worldly happenings. During the summer months, he could be found sitting on his front porch entertaining his pet squirrel "Buddy", while sitting on his lap.

     Glenn is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Alice Rose; daughters, Brenda (Phillip) Langenderfer, Cheryl Galbraith (James "Mac" McIntosh), and Deanne (Lyle) Hawkins; grandchildren, Haley Stricklin (Bobby Lankford), Angie Langenderfer, Travis (Aimee) Walter, Coreen Walter (Matthew Wagner), Adam Langenderfer and Cory Hawkins; great-grand-children, Annabelle Walter and Brendan Wagner; sisters, Naomi (Robert) Dunbar, Chloe (Frank) Smallman; brothers, Wilbur (Carol) Nichols and Gary (Irene) Nichols; sisters-in-law, Joan Mosiniak and Gileen Havens, and brother-in-law, Virgil Mosiniak, as well as many nieces and nephews.

     Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Warren and Lawrence; sister, Carol Lynn; son-in-law, Monte Uyttenhove, and grandchildren, Courtney, Jeremiah, and Tyler Uyttenhove.

     Friends and family may visit Friday, May 8th from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where a Scripture service will be held at 8:15 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 9th, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Metamora Fire and Rescue or Holy Trinity Parish.
