O'BRIEN, Dorothea A. (VAN VALKENBURG) April 26, 2009  Dorothea A. O'Brien, 91, of Lyons, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009, at Arbors at Waterville in Waterville, Ohio. She was born on October 6, 1918, in Fayette, Ohio, the daughter of Willie Lee & Ethel (Ratcliff) VanValkenburg. She married Harry M. O'Brien on September 11, 1937. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1975. Dorothea was a graduate of Fayette High School and had lived in Lyons since 1988. She was formerly employed at Wauseon Manufacturing in Wauseon, Ohio, from where she retired. Survivors include two daughters, Iris (Glyndon) Ballard of Paint Lick, Kentucky and Mary (Delbert) Neill of Lyons, Ohio; a sister, Cynthia Allion of Morenci; a brother, John VanValkenburg of Prattville, Alabama; eight grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; three great great granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Harry, Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Doris Smith and Florence VanValkenburg; and two brothers, William & Francis VanValkenburg. Funeral services for Dorothea will be on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. |
