MIKA, Janice (BOONE) September 3, 2008  Janice Mika, age 85, of Lyons, Ohio, entered into eternal rest, Wednesday evening, September 3, 2008, at Charlotte Stephenson Manor in Adrian, Michigan. She was born July 21, 1923 in Champaign, Illinois to Chester and Zelda (Soward) Boone. On November 29, 1944, she married Joseph Mika. She and her husband traveled many places around the world during Joe's career with the Air Force. Janice was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. She loved her Pomeranian dogs and treated them as her children. She took great pride in her flower garden and raised beautiful roses of many varieties. She loved playing cards and Bingo, and enjoyed participating in all the activities at Charlotte Stephenson Manor assisted living home. Besides her husband, Joseph, she is survived by her sister, Betty Colt; sister-in-law, Helen (Jack) Springer; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Virginia) Mika and Charles (Dolores) Mika, as well as many nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William W. Boone; sisters-in-law, Mary Shelby and Frances Schnieder and brothers-in-law, Frank Mika and Martin Mika. Friends and family may visit Saturday, September 6th from 9:30 am to 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, where a Memorial Mass of Resurrection will begin at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment at Lyons Cemetery will follow at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee County, 415 Mill Rd., Adrian, MI 49221 or Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to Fr. Dennis Metzger and Fr. Ron Schock. We thank Sr. Joy Barker for all her kindness and visits to Joe and Jan.
