OBITUARY:
GUNN, Alvin B. June 16, 2001

    Alvin B. GUNN, 91 years, of Wadsworth, OH formerly of Lyons, OH, passed away June 16, 2001, in AlterCare Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on January 31, 1910, to the late Willard A. and Cora E. (BARDEN) GUNN, a dear brother of the later Nettie B. (Glen) McGURER.

    Before Alvin graduated from Lyons High School in 1928 he had started his 47-year career in banking at the Farmers State Bank of Lyons, OH. He was
employed as a cashier and became a member of the Board of directors. He
served on the Fulton County Health Board, Fulton County Ration Board and the Morenci Hospital Board. He was a Village Council member, Lyons Mayor, Village Town Clerk, Lyons/Royalton Fire Department, member of the Water Board, a founder and officer of the Lyons School PTA. Also he was a member of the Lyons Christian Church and served as church Elder, Deacon, Treasurer and Board of Trustees. In 1988 Alvin was honored as a 60 year member of the Royalton Union Masonic Lodge #434. He was raised to a 32
nd Degree Mason in 1946. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Stars and belonged to the Wauseon Elks for more than 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling and gardening. His family and friends were always a priority with him.

    His wife, Geraldine (SMITH) GUNN, preceded him in death in 1985 after 54 years of marriage. His second wife, Ruth (MORTEMORE) GUNN, passed in 1991. Surviving are daughters, Janis (Bud) IMBER of Wadsworth, OH, Ms. F Jeannine MARTIN of Cleveland, OH; stepdaughter, Barbara (Jerry) BLACKBURN of Leesburg, FL; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

    Friends may call at the Biehl-Malone Mortuary, Lyons, OH on Tuesday, June 19, 2001, from 6 to 9 p.m. where Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be from the mortuary on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Brent Pomeroy officiating. Burial will be in the Lyons Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the church or donor's choice.
