FULTON COUNTY, Ohio (WTOL) - A Fulton County woman is being hailed a hero after saving a boy's life in Adrian, Mich. Linda Boger, a mother and grandmother, came upon a frantic woman on the side of road in Adrian whose two-year-old son wasn't breathing Wednesday. "I saw this mother jumping up and down, and shaking her arms and screaming for help. He was… really blue. Stiff, his hands just hung down," said Boger.
Boger had watched a TV show days before that demonstrated how to perform chest compressions in an emergency. So without medical training and ever trying them before, Boger performed the compressions on the boy's chest and was able to revive him."He threw up, I rolled him on his side… I started hugging, kissing him, praying over him and then the rescue squad got there," said Boger. "When I reached for him, I said "'Linda, you can do this. Just do it!' And I put him on the ground, and did it. I don't consider myself a hero, I'm just thankful that baby lived." Medical Director of Fulton County's EMS' Dr.Harry Murtiff has been encouraging residents to learn how to do chest compressions for months. Murtiff says anyone can learn and they're easy to do. Murtiff says a person places their hands "between the nipples, on the breast bone and you start actually coming forward at a very fast rate of 200 per minute...," said Murtiff. That's what Boger did to save the little boy's life. She says her entire family will learn chest compressions--- because she says, you'll never know when you-- or someone else-- will need it. www.wtol.com/global/story.asp?s=11555447 |

The Vietnam Wall Footnote and the National Archives held a press conference this morning in Washington, D.C. to unveil a new interactive online Vietnam War Memorial. This Footnote project features the largest photo of The Wall on the Internet (at full size, the photo on Footnote is about 460 feet wide). The project has been several months in the making and provides an interactive experience for finding names on The Wall as well as service record and casualty report information for each soldier listed. Viewers may also upload photos and create tributes connected to any name on The Wall. Please take a moment to view a short video about how one veteran found a fallen friend on The Wall and add your own tribute today. The video is on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scwMAgCLdks or on the Footnote site at http://www.footnote.com/thewall I went to the Footnote web site and registered. I then looked to see if Jack Hinkle was listed on The Vietnam Memorial Wall. The Class of 2009 had a great 45th Reunion at Borlands home on May 30, 2009. The weather started out foreboding but the sun came out & the birds sang! Many old memories were shared as well as catching up on everyone’s current life. Bob Duckett & Jeannie Nolan headed the organizing of the Reunion. Below is an email from Bob dated today, June 14, 2009: &&&&& I wanted to take a few minutes and thank all those involved that made our 45th class reunion such a success! Charlie you did an outstanding job on the reunion packets. The pictures, biographies and memories will be cherished for a long time. Great job! To all the Borlands - the picnic facilities were, of course, first class! Thank you for all the hard work you did to prepare the area for the picnic and clean up afterwards. I know it was a lot of hard work and we all appreciate your effort. Jeannie - all your skills came to play during this entire event. The planning ahead of time, the organization of all the classmates and of course your hard work the day of the picnic. It wouldn't have come together without all your efforts. Thanks! It was such a beautiful day - the weather threatened to ruin our parade but it did not! It was such fun to get together with everyone, catch up on our lives and enjoy each other's company. Thanks to all involved for such a successful event. I look forward to the 50th reunion. Bob &&&&& I have finished posting The Memory Book on this Lyons web site today. The Memory Bool given to everyone in the 1964 Class. Copies were sent to those who were unable to attend the Reunion. The Book consists of Yearly Class Group photos, contributed photos, and current biographies. With the Index of Contents, The Memory Book is 61 pages long.
