Robert Keiper, 71, of Effort, died Sunday, Aug. 22, at Pocono Medical Center. He was the husband of Anna Mae (Green) Keiper. They had been married 40 years.

Born in Long Pond, he was the son of the late Milo and Lizzie (Miller) Keiper.

He was a mason, working in home building and construction. For many years he worked for Clark George in Kunkletown, until his retirement in 1981.

He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the European Theater. He was a life-long resident of Monroe County.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Shilery Keiper of Brodheadsville, Joyce Christman, wife of Allen, of Lehighton, Kathleen Weiss, wife of LeRoy, of Saylorsburg, Linda Swinton, wife of Glen, of Gilbert, and Pamela Graffius, wife of Robert, of Leesburg, Va.; one son, Frank Keiper of Saylorsburg; two sisters, Pauline Dewitsky of Pocono Lake, and Betty Weirich of Long Pond; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Woodrow, Thomas, Curtland, and Ralph; and his sisters, Pearl, Alice, Caroline, Bernice, and Ella. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Route 209, Gilbert, with Rev. Lloy Stevens officiating. The interment will follow in Long Pond Cemetery, Long Pond Road. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
