Franklin Keiper born 4 February 18561, died 25 January 1911 . He is buried in Long Pond Cemetery. His parents were James Keiper and Elizabeth Meckes.
He married Elizabeth Eschenbach in 1877. She was born 3 December 1860, died 6 February 1923. She is buried in Long Pond Cemetery. Her parents were Elias Eschenbach and Catherine.

Franklin is listed in the Census as a farmer. He was a horse farmer who raised Morgan and Belgium horses for work on farms. He was one of the few who did this in his area at that time. Franklin and Elizabeth were the first people in Long Pond to have both cold and hot running water come into their house. Franklin built a ‘tank house’ behind their farm house. In it water was drawn up from the ground and heated with a large furnace, then it was pumped through pipes into the house.

Franklin has land records in the Monroe County courthouse for: 12 Jul 1886, 2 Apr 1894, 11 Jun 1895, 28 Jun 1895, 8 Apr 1898, 14 Apr 1899, 13 Oct 1902 and 25 Apr 1903. All for the purchase/sale of land in Long Pond.
