The founder of this group was William
Keepers, born June 18,1771 and died December 28,1842. He married Elizabeth
King, daughter of John King, at Hagerstown, Maryland on March 15,1800.
William Keepers was a veteran of the War of 1812 and is buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Stock Township, Harrison County, Ohio. Two of his grandsons, Isaac N. Keepers and William H. Keepers, were veterans of the Civil War.
A daughter of William and Elizabeth, Jamima Keepers, married Robert Maxwell, and they had many prominent descendants including William Keepers Maxwell, author of many books and editor for the New Yorker magazine, and Robert Blane Maxwell, a President of AARP.
