– Keepers Family of Philadelphia County Pennsylvania
The antecedents of John Francis Keepers, born 1825, died 1849, have not been definitely
established. However, there is a John Francis Keepers (Group 10), son of Stephen and
Mary Ann (Delancey) Keepers, born September 10, 1825. We know that a John Francis
appears in the1850 census, Connellsville, PA, as a school teacher. If the date of death for
the other John Francis is correct as 1849, then we have two boys named John Francis Keepers
born in 1825 in Pennsylvania. See the Carlisle, PA group for details about known siblings of John

There is another John Francis Keepers, born in 1831 in Maryland (Group 8), about whom we
know very little. He may be the John Francis who died in 1849 in Harrisburg, PA, or he might
be the John Francis who shows up teaching in 1850 in Connellsville, PA. More research needs
to be done in Harrisburg in order to shed light on the parents of John Francis Keepers of Group
11. For this edition, it is assumed that John Francis of Group 11 died in 1849.
John Francis Keepers died when he was only 24. His wife, Elizabeth Anne Cline, apparently
supported herself and her son by working as a seamstress. This family group does not have
a large number of members. Two successive generations produced only one child, a son in
each case. Most of the records for this group indicate that Philadelphia, PA, was their home town.
