William Keepers, Jr.: Group 1, Colonial America
Berks County, PA, Ensign, 4th Co., 3rd Battalion[1]
William, Jr., was born August 21, 1747 to William Keepers and Esther (Foulke) Keepers in Berks Co., PA.[2] He was baptized on July 23, 1753, at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, also in Berks County.[3] History reports on May 21, 1810, that he was a member of the Hephzibah Baptist Church in Chester County.[4] He was married to Ann Hayes, and they had five children. At the time of his death in 1827, his family lived in West Marlborough Township, Chester County, PA. They appear to have been reasonably well off for that time period. The value of his estate totaled $2028.44 and included a riding carriage valued at $50.[5]
Also, William Jr. appears in a list of able-bodied men available for militia service in 1787 in Eastbradford Township, Chester Co., PA.[6]
