at age 16.

Residence at death: At his father’s home in Valley Ford, Meigs
County, Ohio.
Served: Company I, 53rd Ohio Infantry
from December 12, 1861 until about April, 1862.
Claim filed: December 6, 1890, by his father. It is presumed that the application was
approved, because there was no letter of rejection in the file.
Remarks:
John Mills Keepers, Allen’s
father, made a request for a pension dated December 4, 1890. John was 76 years old, and had married
Allen’s mother on July 16, 1837 at Beaver Township in Pennsylvania. She died on June 19, 1884. Anna (Hart) Keepers gave birth to 11
children, three of which died in infancy.
