One source (THE WALLS OF WALLTOWN) indicates that most of the Wall family in N. C. and S. C. descended from John Wall and Ann Poythress of VA. Another source claims that they descended from William Wall who migrated early to SC. This researcher is not aware of any documentation on either claim.
In the 1790 Census for Georgetown District, Benjamin, Thomas, Samuel, Wright, Michael and Joseph Wall are all listed as heads of households. It appears that in 1810 some in this Wall family relocated to the Mississippi Territory; however, no one yet has been able to document which of the Walls migrated and which either stayed or returned to be buried in Marion County, SC.
