Boatrights/Boatwrights have been in SC since about 1740 and came from Virginia. The first record of a Boatwright in VA is a John Boatwright c1654 who seems to have come from England abt.1650 and whose father was John Boatwright and mother was Elizabeth Cropley.

There was a Jacob Boatright, Anthony Boatright and William Boatright in the 1790 SC Census and I believe they are brothers or somehow related. The William Boatright in the SC Census appears to be the son of a William Boatwright (1728 VA-1780? SC). This William Boatright's father was Thomas Boatright, Sr.(b.1705 VA) with spouse Martha Unk.

There was a Thomas,William and Jacob Boatright in the Marion Co, SC 1810 census. In the 1820 Marion census is a Daniel Boatright.
