MEUSE, Benedict John - 72, Halifax, died January 8, 1994, in Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born in Amiraults Hill, Yarmouth County, he was a son of the late Eugene and Emilie Meuse. He was a well-known watchmaker and owned and operated Granville Sales on Almon Street. He was also an avid musician, wellknown for his guitar playing. He was one of the first performers to appear on the first ATV Christmas Daddies Telethon. He was a member of the Halifax Musicians Association and a devoted member of St. Agnes Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Doris (Little) Makin; son, Yvon, Bedford; two daughters, Nina, Halifax; Rosemarie Reeves, Bedford; two stepsons, John Makin, Lewis Lake; Robert Makin, Herring Cove; stepdaughter, Brenda (Mrs. David Gionet), Williamswood; two brothers, Daniel, Eugene, both of Yarmouth; six sisters, Angeline (Mrs. Paul Amirault), Olivette Sudsbury, Adelta Moulaison, Emaline (Mrs. Levi Frotten), all of Amiraults Hill; Juliette Doucet, Yarmouth; Isabelle Bourque, Truro; a granddaughter. Born in London, England, he was the adopted son of the late Daniel and Lydia (Clarke) Teed. He was a welder by trade and served with the Military Police overseas during the Second World War. BRIAND, Michael Barry - 39, 26 Alton Dr., Halifax, died February 25, 1994, at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Dorothy (Reeves) Briand, Halifax, and the late Gerald Briand. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. He was self-employed in the maintenance industry in the Windsor area for a number of years, and had been employed in maintenance with Keddy's Inn for seven years. He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Slaunwhite; daughter, Yolanda, Halifax; brother, James, Halifax; two sisters, Frances (Mrs. David Stone), Coleen (Mrs. Darren Stone), both of Sackville; a number of nieces and nephews. JOHNSON, Rena Dunbar - Conowingo, Md., died March 9, 1994, as the result of a car/pedestrian accident near her home. Born in South Branch, Colchester County, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Jennie (Fulton) Andrews. The family moved to Elmsvale, Halifax County in 1926. In 1941 she married Trueman W. (Bill) Johnson of Truro. They moved to Maryland, U.S.A. in 1946 where they have since resided. She was an accomplished seamstress, working in both Canada and the United States for many years. She and her husband were active members of West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, Rising Sun. She is survived by her husband, Trueman W. (Bill); son, Ronald, Darlington, Md.; daughter, Carol Hunter, Rising Sun, Md.; four brothers, Fulton, Elmsvale; Frank, Stewiacke; Paul, Calgary, Alta.; Arthur, Trois-Rivieres, Que.; two sisters, Blanche Barnhill, Truro; Muriel Reeves, Harve-de-Grace, Md.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant brother, Douglas. A private graveside service and burial was held March 15 in West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, Rising Sun.
CASEY, Roy Vernon - 81, Halifax, died April 9, 1994, at home. Born in Sydney, he was son of the late James and Pearl (Reeves) Casey. He served in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Navy on the Assiniboine; member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Citadel Unit 373, Halifax and was retired after 32 years with the Federal Government. He is survived by his sister, Marjorie LaTour, Montreal, Que.; son, Robert, Quebec; three daughters, Jane Healy, Florence Spears, both of Halifax; Marjorie Smith, Ontario; 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; number of nieces and nephews. Born in Argyle, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late James
K. and Martha Jane (Stewart) Nichols. She was a member of the Womens Institute
of Lochaber and lifetime member of Lochaber UCW. She was the last surviving
member of her immediate family. She is survived by two daughters, Grace
Brown, Truro; Dorothy (Mrs. James Ostewig), Lochaber; four granddaughters;
two nieces; two nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William Charles;
son, James; brother, Robert; three sisters, Mabel Reeves, Jeanetta,
