MURIEL DORIS TEARE, - 92, Halifax, formerly of Sudbury, Ont., died January 17, 1999, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Cardiff, Wales, she was a daughter of the late Robert Samuel Walter and Mary Ann Gillard. She immigrated to Colbalt, Ont., in 1912. She worked for a number of mining interests throughout Northern Ontario and Northwestern Quebec. With her husband, their lives, connected to mining, took them to numerous locations in the North and later to Toronto and Vancouver. As protector, advocate and generous caregiver, she was the hub of her extended family. For many years she contributed her talent and flair for crafts to the efforts of St. Timothy's Anglican Church, Agincourt. More recently she lived in Sudbury, Ont., and Halifax. Surviving are daughter, Sharron Frances (Mrs. Ward Isnor), Martins River; many cousins; a nephew. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip Sidney; brother, Walter John Gillard. Cremation has taken place. Funeral 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Martin's Anglican Church, Martins River, Rev. Michael Mitchell officiating. Burial in St. Martin's Anglican Cemetery, Martins River. REGINALD HARRIS HILTZ - 71, Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay, formerly of Martins River, died January 23, 1999, in the home. Born in Martins River, he was a son of the late Aiden and Erna (Isnor) Hiltz. He was a member of St. Martin's Anglican Church, Martins River. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the Canadian Merchant Marine division. He was a former co-owner of Chester Fuels Ltd., Chester. Surviving are his wife, the former Irene F. Whynock, Martins River; sons, Leslie, Wayne, Martins River; sisters, Pauline Cleveland, Martins River; Rita (Mrs. Robert Sears), Woodstock, Ont.; Thelma Porier, Surrey, B.C.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter, Faye in infancy; sisters, Loretta Hubley, Lila Whynot, Lillian Conrad, Dorothy Cleveland, Betty Anne Hiltz; brothers, Louis, Melburne. No visitation by request. IVA MAE LANGILLE, - 88, Halifax, formerly of 5515 Victoria Rd., Joseph Howe Manor, Halifax, died February 12, 1999, at Northwood Manor. Born in Millvale, Cumberland Co., she was the eldest daughter of the late George A. and Eliza (Williams) Scott. After her marriage, she moved to Martins River, Lunenburg Co., where she was active in Home and School Association, Garden Club, St. Martin's Anglican Church choir and Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of St. Martin's Anglican Church. In 1965 she returned to Halifax where she worked until her retirement. She attended All Saints Cathedral where she belonged to St. Luke's Ladies Guild. She was a member of Joseph Howe Manor Tenants Association where she resided for 18 years, the Widow's Group at Spencer House and the Victoria General Auxiliary. She is survived by her only child, a daughter, Sharon Gail (Mrs. Harry N. Richard) of Halifax, and deeply loved grandsons, Lloyd and wife Heather, St. John's Nfld.; Timothy S., Halifax; sisters, Thelma (Mrs. Kenneth Peers), Fergus, Ont.; Mildred Brownell, Lois (Mrs. Camille Burke) and sister-in-law, Jean Scott, Amherst; also many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl Lloyd Scott Langille, and brothers, Lloyd, Russell, and Cecil. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, memorial celebration of Iva's life by Rev. FRANK EDWARD KEDDY, who turned 88 on January 11th, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the VG Site, QEII, on Saturday, February 27, 1999. Frank was born in Martin's River, Lunenburg Co., in 1911. He was the fifth child of the late Joseph Edward and Nora Emila (Reeves) Keddy. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was predeceased by his brothers, Howard Austin (Liverpool), Roy Willoughby (Liverpool), Emmett Robert (New Ross), Marshall (Martin's River), and sisters, Eva Etta Belle Faeder (Chester) and Winnifred Eveline Tingley (Halifax). He was also predeceased by his first wife, the former Vida May Armstrong (Kentville) and his second wife, the former Mary Ellen MacLean (Sydney Mines). Frank is survived by sons, Maurice Edward (Toronto), Douglas Ray (Toronto), and Bryan Francis (Halifax); four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Frank was a strong, hard working and kind man who loved to sing and play his accordion. He was a carpenter by trade and in his spare time like to carve wooden ships and folk art. He was very fond of animals, especially cats and dogs. He had been ill for a number of years, suffering from Alzheimers, and was cared for by his son, Bryan and daughter-in-law Anita. One of his favorite expressions was "May God Bless and keep you all the days of your Life", and we pray the same for him in his after life. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the spring at Camp Hill Cemetery in Halifax, where his ashes will be buried beside his wife, Mary Ellen. RONALD STANLEY HILTZ - 77, Mahone Bay, died April 1, 1999, in Armview Estates, Halifax. Born in Martins River, he was a son of the late Nathan and Alice (Spidle) Hiltz. Prior to his retirement, he had been a carpenter with Atlantic Ship Building, Lunenburg, for 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Kyle and wife Mary-Ann, Mahone Bay; stepson, Keith Allen and wife Jane, Dartmouth; sister, Louise Lavendoski, Western Shore; Lola (Mrs. Peter Morris), Halifax; brothers, Douglas, Sun City, Fla.; Roy, Kingston, Eugene, Martins River; grandson, Ethan Hiltz; granddaughters, Denise Purcell and Lori Allen. He was predeceased by sisters, Beulah, Bessie and Mildred; brothers, Emplis, Harold, Scott; half-brothers, Hector, William, Harvey and Norman. No visiting. A private family funeral service will be held in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay, Rev. George Wawin officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay. Memorial donations may be made to South Shore Regional Hospital CAT scan fund, St. John's Lutheran Church or any other charity.
