Camp Hill Cemetery - Halifax, N.S.
The original List of Those Buried in Camp Hill Cemetery was compiled by Susan Burns in 1999.
When established, first interment, where land orginated, etc: It replaced the Old Burying Ground at Barrington Street and Spring Garden Road in 1844 although it was established a bit earlier. It acted as a Municipal cemetery, open to all, although early Blacks were segregated. Southern Confederate sailors, Second World War Norwegian, Dutch & British sailors are buried here. Many noted politicians, among them Robert Stanfield and Joseph Howe, two Fathers of Confederation (William Henry & Jonathan McCully), and powerful merchants and industrialists, including the inventor of kerosene, Abraham Gesner, the novelist Hugh Maclennan, the inventor of the modern skate, John Forbes.

Please note this list is NOT COMPLETE and if you have any additions
or more information to add please e-mail me at  bfknova@eastlink.ca
and although every effort has been made for accuracy there may be some errors
in transcriptions as many stones are broken and unreadable.
