BLAKE, Zachariah S.
Entered the army 2 September 1861 at age 16 and was captured by the Confederates,
serving nine long months in the Andersonville, Ga., prison. Then he escaped and made his way to
Sherman’s army near Savannah, Ga. Mustered out as a Private with Company D, First Regiment Infantry West Virginia on 21 July 1865.
