John Fenn,
my great great grandfather
He served in the Civil War
for the Confederacy
on 3 May 1862. He enlisted as a Corporal on
03 May 1862 and enlisted in Company E,
55th Infantry Regiment Georgia on 17 May 1862.
He was promoted to Full Private
on 15 August 1862 (Reduced, estimated day).
Grandfather John Fenn was the son of Martha Rich and
Elijah Fann, born 1829 in Georgia. Elijah was the son of Travis.
Travis and his father Zachariah Fann/ Fenn had recieved land
grants in Georgia for their service in the American Revolution.
John was a Civil War soldier.
John moved his family to Macon County Alabama.
Elijah's brother Matthew Fenn bought hundreds of acres
of land in Alabama, and John's sons soon worked on that farm.
John's son William is my great grandfather. Wm was born
about 1850 but 1855 is on his tombstone.
John was married to Emeline Harrell (Emily) and are
listed as parents on the death certificate of Willliam.
Then I found William named on his son's d.c.

Zachariah received land grants for serving in the British military
and from the U. S. Government for serving in the military
during the Revolutionary War to gain freedom from England.
He was in Georgia by 1758 according to his records.
He appears to have to returned to North Carolina and
perhaps Virginia but returned to Georgia.
Zachariah Fann was born to Henry & Winifred Fann in Richmond Co., VA
on 20 Dec 1730 (REGISTER OF NORTH FARNHAM PARISH
1663-1800, in Richmond Co., VA.). He seems to be among the
first to change the spelling from FANN to FENN. As a young man,
he was in Amelia and Dinwiddie counties of Virginia.
His name is spelled Zachariah in the North Farnham Parish Register
and in most county records, but he used the
spelling Zacharias when he wrote his will.
A land certificate in Dinwiddie Co., VA was issued to Zachariah Fenn
for 38 acres on both sides of Reedy Branch adjacent to
William Paythress, William Cryer, Samuel Gordon, and Edward Paythress
on 18 Apr 1753. The deed record has John Williams' name
on the certificate, but has a notation at the bottom stating the record
was altered to show Zachariah Fenn as the owner.

41. xii. WINIFRED FENN.
42. xiii. TRAVIS FENN, b. Abt. 1750; d. 1810, Laurens Co GA.
TRAVIS6 FENN (ZACHARIA5, HENRY4, MARY3 STONE,
WILLIAM2, WILLIAM1) was born Abt. 1750, and died 1810
in Laurens Co GA. He married MARY. She was born Abt. 1750.
Notes for MARY:
Per Laurens Co Ga Legal Records 1807-1832 compiled by
Allen Thomas, pg 241, Mary Fenn and William Hawthorne were
granted letters of administration on the estate of Travis Fenn
on 05-00-1810. On same page, 12-25-1811, Joseph Chairs was groom
and Mary Fenn was bride. On page 242, 01-01-1817, William Hawthorn
and Mary Chaires are listed as administrators of the Travis Fenn estate.
Thus, one may deduct from those entries, that the Mary Fenn who
married Chaires was the widow of Travis Fenn.
Since in 1821, page 241, Zacheus Fenn was appointed guardian
of Mary Ann Patience Fenn, orphan of Travis (& Mary), that
Mary was still a minor in 1821 and not likely the one who married
Hargrove two years before that in 1819
NOTHING is known about Travis' wife Mary.
Children of TRAVIS FENN and MARY are:
