Federal Census Record (1790-1840) of
Joshua Grant of Smithfield, Maine

The Joshua Grant household in the federal census, 1790-1840. Son Elijah lived only one year (1801-1802), and is not found in the census. The two females, age 16-26 do not seem to "fit" in the Joshua Grant household of 1810. Joshua's daughters Dorcas, Marcy and Betsey, were married by that time. Perhaps one was a wife of Joshua, Jr. More research in the census is needed to determine which children of Joshua Grant were enumerated in other households in 1810.
Joshua Grant's age is inconsistently given as 1760-1770 in 1830 and 1840, and as before 1755 in 1800. The age of his wife in 1800 is also inconsistent with other years.
