Notes for PETER J. STIEFVATER:
According to the story that Elizabeth Netzer Kestell told me, Peter Stiefvater was dating Rose Netzer when she lived in the town of Meeme, and Peter lived in the town of Liberty. Rose had to be quite young at this time The Peter Netzer's moved from the town of Meeme to the area of Springfield, Missouri with his entire family sometime between 1887 and 1892, as William Netzer was born in Missouri in July 1892.

On the 16 August 1893, Pete's mother died, and on 4 September 1894 John Stiefvater, Peter's father, married Katherina Platten. Peter did not get along with his step mother very well, so he decided to go to Missouri and renew his love affair with Rose Netzer. They were married in 1901 in Clever, Mo. and lived their entire married life in the Springfield, Mo. area. They raised three children, Richard, William and Isabel.

Notes for AMBROSE PFEFFERLE:
Ambrose Pfefferle was owner of the Elm Tree Bakery in Appleton from 1904 until his death in 1944. Loretta, his daughter by his first wife, joined the Sisters of St. Agnes in Fond du Lac, WI. in 1917. She studied music and received her degree and later taught music. Her religious name was, Sister M. Ambrosine.

Felix, the younger brother of Felizian and August, first came to the United States by himself, and then returned to Germany to be married to Walburga Bins. They migrated to the United States in 1857, where they settled in the St. Nazianz area in Manitowoc county on a farm. (Town of Eaton). Felix had ten children, the seventh born was Ambrose.

The home of our forefathers was in Untermuenstertal, Baden, Germany. In 1764, in Muensterhalden, the present homestead was built and is still in a good state of preservation. It is now owned by Otto Pfefferle, who states that forty-two children were born there.

Untermuenstertal is situated in the corner where Switzerland, France and Germany have a common boundary. It is approximately 15 miles from Basel on the Swiss border and approximately 25 miles from the French border, across the River Rhine. In order to reach Untermuenstertal by rail, either from the north or south, on the mainline railroad, a transfer is made west of Freiburg. From there another railroad goes to Staufen and then still another railroad takes the passengers to Untermuenstertal. Muensterhalden is about two miles further. It lays deep in the Black Forest (Schwarzwald). The region doubtless received its name from the dense pine forest. There are many Gutman and Pfefferle families living there.
