Bloom Township
Dr. John Coup is of a family of six - Daniel, John, Susan, Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Mary - the children of Frederick and Mary Coup. Dr. Coup was born (1807) in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. He married Esther Springer, who was born in the same State, on the 22d of April, 1814. They have six children - William, Sarah A., Joseph, John, Frederick, and Eliza A. Mrs. Coup's parents are Joseph and Esther Springer. She has a sister, Susan, and two brothers, John and Joseph. Dr. Coup came to Wood County in 1864, and in 1869 his residence was destroyed by fire. Loss, $1,500.

Benjamin Wenrick came into Ashland county from Pennsylvania, where he was born in Berks county, September 12, 1821, and settled in 1850 in Milton township. He has been twice married. First to Mary E. Coup, October 2, 1852, by whom he has had four children; and next to Harriet Willams, September 8, 1859, by whom he has had one son. He served nine years as justice of the peace, to the full satisfaction of the people of Milton township. He has filled the office of township trustee and treasurer at various times. He was a valiant soldier in the war of the Rebellion, being in a number of severe engagements, and was with Grant during the seige of Vicksburgh, but escaped unhurt, and returned to his home with all the honors to which he was entitled. By his fellow citizens he is highly esteemed for his integrity, and is looked upon by all who know him as a worthy citizen.
