One grandchild has a bequest in Mary's father's will of Apr 1785 - Mary Slade. So there must have been a deceased daughter who married a Slade.
Thomas Slade had married for a second time to Isabella Graves on 12 Dec 1782. So Mary had evidently died prior to that date.

Will dated 11 Aug 1827, offered for probate, Caswell Co NC July Court 1830. William Slade qualified as executor. Wife Isbell Slade all lands except tract given to son William on Rattlesnake Creek and the Thornton tract and the tract bought of brother William. While daughters Isbell and Susan remain single, they may live with their mother. The Thornton tract and land bought of brother William to be sold. Son William the Rattlesnake Creek tract of 175 acres. Have advanced to daughter Nancy Stamps a slave girl Milly and part of the mill tract and have been paid by her husband John Stamps. Son John Slade to receive one fifth of residue in trust. Children of Nancy Stamps one fifth of estate in trust. Son William one fifth of residue. Daughters Isabell & Susan each one fifth of residue. Daughter Polly Graves, widow of James Graves, has received property except for additional slaves and livestock. [Polly was the daughter of his first wife Mary Williams.] Executors: son William Slade, Sen. Azariah Graves and Azariah Graves of Caswell Court House. Signed: Thomas Slade. Wit: B.
