By 1820, George Brooks lived in Stokes Co NC - Forsyth formed from Stokes in 1849 making him a resident of the new county. George Brooks & Wife Elizabeth of Stokes Co NC to Obadiah Nunally of Caswell Co NC, 25 Jun 1820, tract of 206 acres in Caswell on waters of Hogan's Creek. Caswell DB V, p.109. This is the tract left Elizabeth by her grandfather John Hudnall, who had purchased it from Joseph Arnett.
George's brother Henry is said to have moved from Caswell Co about the same time. They engaged in several land deeds and Henry acted as his agent.

The name "Lacy" only appears on the family group sheet with personal knowledge of Mae Clement Staten's mother, Lillian Brooks Withers Clement (granddaughter of Lacy Ann), listed as a source. It appears in no other source that I have found. Perhaps it is a family nickname that never appeared in records.
The date of Amanda's birth is 1830 in the Jennings book.
Ann left a will probated & recorded on 19 Jun 1897 in Stokes Co NC. She left her sons, W. W. Withers & E. S. Withers "all her landed estate".
