| William and George Thomas, BrothersWilliam Thomas and his brother George are the earliest Thomas ancestors I can prove. That William was George's heir does not indicate there were no other brothers. At the time George died without a will the English laws of primogeniture were in effect and only his eldest brother would have inherited from George. There could very well have been other siblings. There was a Phillip Thomas living in Charlotte County that I suspect was a relative. A generation earlier there were Thomas families living in Goochland County and it's likely there is a connection but I have not found it. Some people have claimed that William and George were immigrants but I do not believe that they were.
