"In 1831 Pugh Williamson Price moved his wife and five children, Edwin, Pamela, Robert Pugh, Sterling and John Randolph, all grown to maturity, to Missouri. His wife and daughter and household goods were transported by ox wagon and the men rode horseback; the slaves walked and drove the livestock. The Price family had been farmers in Virginia and when they settled in the Missouri Valley, the area between the present towns of Fayette and Keytesville, they continued to plant their fields with oats, corn, wheat and tobacco, and became active in the cultural and political life."
