Daughter Mary was born in VA in 1833 - son James born in MS in 1841. Also living in the household was Anthony Perkins, age 54, born Virginia [no doubt his brother], and Allen Gray age 24, overseer, born in Georgia.
The 1850 census, Madison Co, does indeed show a Peter Brown, age 37, b. VA, whose wife was Agnes and five children in the household, Hh 215. Peter was a wagon maker.
In 1840, I. H. Perkins was listed as age 20-30. There was no one else in his household. He did have a large number of slaves for such a young man - 93 all together.
I checked the slave census of 1850, to see what might have happened to all the slaves of I. H. Perkins. Peter Brown was listed with 12 slaves. Jesse Perkins had 78; no other Perkins listed.
