Sarah J. MAYBERRY and Charles M. HADEN were married on 17 October 1861 in Lowndes County, Mississippi.141,193,194 Charles M. HADEN194, son of William M. HADEN and Mary MCGOWAN, was born on 25 April 1832 in Mississippi.141,192,195 He died on 17 November 1904 at the age of 72 in Lamar County, Mississippi.141

Born Lowndes or Winston County MS. The 1850 Census presents a problem. Charles is listed as 16 (b. 1834) and sister Sarah is older at 18 (b. 1832) - probably just an error.

The marriage of Charles M. Haden & Sarah J. Mayberry is another connection between my family and that of my husband's. Charles was a third cousin to William Franklin Haden 91817-1880), my husband's gg grandfather, while Sarah was a fifth cousin to my gg grandmother, Letitia Ann Mayberry (1844-1926)

Charles M. Haden (son of William M. & Mary McGowan Haden) was born 25 Apr 1732 in Lowndes Co., MS' and died 17 Nov 1904 at Purvis, Lamar Co., MS; buried in the Pine Grove Cemetary; located at Pine Grove Baptist Church on the Purvis to Oloh Rd. about 7 miles west of Purvis.
He married in Lowndes Co., MS on 17 Oct 1861; Sarah J. (Jane) Mabry (spelling on the license) (dau of Daniel & Sarah Anderson Mabry) was born 1 Oct 1840 Lauderdale Co., MS; and died 25 Nov 1929 at Purvis, Lamar Co., MS; buried Pine Grove Cemetary.


Charles M. Haden served in the Civil War.
Signed up at Meridian, MS on 20 Feb 1862; mustered in 20 mar 1852, served in Co. C, 36 MS Infantry. He was taken prisoner twice; First Sept - Dec 1862 and again taken near Van Wert, Ga on 25 May 1864, sent to Louisville, KY, then sent on to Rock Island, IL. I don't know how long it took him to get home after he was released, (last listing does not have a date on it). but this in part explains why so long a gap between children.

Marcella Jane Entrekin (dau of Charles Ferguson & Nancy Broome Entrekin) was born 31 Jul 1871 Marion Co., MS; and died 21 Dec 1889 Marion (later Lamar) Co., MS; buried Coaltown Cemetary. (She is the 2nd person to be buried there. This was on property owned by her grandfather, him being the 1st buried.; This later became known as the Moore property, then the Voss property.) Marcella Jane died when her 2nd child, Mary Jane, was just 13 days old.

John married (2) Theodocia Earnest(ine) Seals (Seal); 2nd cousin of Marcella Jane.
They married about 1890, Marion (later Lamar) Co., MS, not long after lst wifes death. Theodocia (dau of Elias & Sarah Entrekin Seals) was born 22 Jan 1860; and died 9 Jul 1925 ar Purvis, Lamar Co., MS; buried Pine Grove Cemetary.

John marrried (3) 27 Oct 1928 Lamar Co., MS; Mrs. Lucie _____ Tanner; Devore; Johnson. Don't have b or d dates for her. She was living with her dau Ruth Ann Johnson, Lawler when she died.
