Isaac appeared to have been living in Rowan Co NC when his father died there in 1771. He appears on a tax list in 1768. An Isaac Mabry served on juries circa 1767-1771. He is probably the Isaac Mabry who witnessed a deed from Peter and Mary Meiar to Lanier & Williams for land in Surry Co NC 27 Aug 1773. He was listed with 500 acres on the 1778 Rowan Co tax roll on land near Abbott's Creek that is now in Davidson Co. A short time later, by 1782, he is found on the tax rolls of Henry Co VA where he remains at least through 1787, along with his brother George.

The Henry Co Surveyors Book 4, lists a survey done for Isaac Mabry in 1791 - it was 183 acres, south side Robertson's Creek. Henry Co DB 32, p.494 shows the grant received for 185 acres on Robertson's Creek of the Dan River, adjoining Irvins line, 22 Dec 1795. This property will be sold by his son Charles in 1813, by then part of Patrick Co.

1 Apr 1798, Shipman & Waterman bought 2000 acres on the headwaters of the Ararat River, adjoining Paterson's order line and Isaac Mayberry. It is not know if Isaac was still living or the land had by then passed to his son Charles.

Family records indicate that Isaac had sons named John and Charles and possibly a son Lewis.

ISAAC MABRY and LUCY RUTLEDGE were married by August 1754. LUCY RUTLEDGE2,4 was born (date unknown).

Lucy said to be the widow of William Rutledge, Sr.

ISAAC MABRY and LUCY RUTLEDGE had the following children:

i.

CHARLES MABRY.

ii.

Martha MABRY was born about 1768.4

The Mabry Family book, p.177, states that Martha married about 1786 to John Hilton in Henry Co VA. She may have been a daughter of Isaac but she could also have been a daughter of George Jr who was also in Henry County in 1786.

iii.

John MABRY4 was born about 1770.4

I'm not at all sure that this John has been placed in the right family. The information given said that he was in the War of 1812, 1st Regt (Hall's) TN Volunteers. Married Elizabeth Brock in Knox Co TN and died 1 Oct 1841 - set his slaves free that they might be sent to Liberia.

The Mabry Family book gives no information on this John. The fact that he lived in Knox Co would place him as part of the family of George & Mary Lackey Mabry.

iv.

Isaac MABRY was born circa 1775. He died on 21 August 1860 at the age of 85 in Anderson County, Tennessee.

Isaac lived in Anderson Co TN by 1801 - it is likely he belongs in a different family. In the 1850 census, he was born in Virginia, but in 1860, North Carolina. Rowan Co, NC would be most likely correct. His wife was Mary Hately. Isaac died on 21 Aug 1860; the 1860 census states his age as 85.
