Walker served in a Texas unit in the Civil War. Died in action.

I am not at all sure that his middle name was Hubbard although that was originally given to me as his name - it seems to have started with an "N" as did his mother's middle name. The 1880 census indicates that Elizabeth, Walker's wife, was the daughter of Hubbard Quarles. Perhaps they were poorly made "H"s.

Jeff Davis HIGGINBOTHAM115 was born in April 1861 in Smith County, Texas. He died on 9 September 1933 at the age of 72 in Troup, Smith County, Texas.

Jefferson never married.

In 1930, he was still living in Smith Co, TX. He was with the family of Walter E. & Nannie Garrett, listed as Jeff D. Higginbotham, Cousin, age 69. Walter & Nannie were much younger and I do not know their exact relationship. Perhaps Nannie was a daughter or granddaughter of Jefferson's sister Nannie.

His death certificate gives his age as 72 years, 24 days, born 15 Apr 186 in Troup, TX1. He died of cancer of the face. Parents listed as Walker Higginbotham and Elizabeth Quarles, both born in Mississippi. Mr. Jno. Holden gave the information for the record.
