Listed as J. D. Higginbottom on 1870 Freestone Co TX Census. Dwelling 106, next door to his father. Rebecca J., age 21 born in TX and James J. age 3.

James Jackson "Jack" HIGGINBOTHAM and Rebecca J. DAVIS were married about 1866 in San Augustine County, Texas.²² Rebecca J. DAVIS was born on 5 August 1846 in San Augustine County, Texas.^21,22 She died on 1 May 1923 at the age of 76 in San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas.²²

Age 21 on 1870 Census, or born about 1849.
Buried Antioch Cemetery in San Augustine, TX. FindAGrave.com says she was the wife of Andrew Jack Higginbotham, but I believe that name is wrong - he was James in the 1850 and 1860 censuses when home with his parents.

John Thomas HIGGINBOTHAM22 was born on 22 July 1870 in San Augustine County, Texas.21,22 He died on 17 November 1944 at the age of 74 in San Augustine County, Texas.22 John T. was born before the 1870 Census was taken, but after the cutoff date which was Jun 1. The Census was done on 10 Aug 1870. He's listed as 1 month of age, but then marked off. Freestone Co TX, p.15, Household 106. Online databases of descendants, show his name as John Thomas Higginbotham. Although I was originally given the name as John Thompson - I suspect Thomas is more likely to be correct, especially since his grandfather's name was Thomas. Married Nancy Elizabeth Rash 20 Nov 1892 in San Augustine Co TX.
