In the 1910 Census, Fred still lived at home but already worked for the Railroad.
Telegrapher for the Missouri Pacific Railraod. Attended telegrapher's school in Dallas at age 14. Worked in Greenwood Junction OK, Van Buren AR, St Louis MO, Kansas City.

Rosco was his brother's best man when he married Adda, and Ruth Waters, Adda's best friend was maid of honor. Rosco and Ruth eventually married.

Fredrick Nathaniel HAYS and Adda SEGER were married on 5 June 1913 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas.^31,51 They^{^31,51} were divorced about 1923.⁵¹ Adda SEGER¹⁰⁹, daughter of George H. SEGER and Sarah Matilda "Sadie" MYRICK, was born in 1894.¹¹⁰ After the divorce, Adda and the children moved in with her parents. She did many things to raise her family from sell Maytag washer, to county surveyor, a doughnut business, and owned the zoo and gift shop, "Jungleland", on Highway 71 north of Mountainburg for 20 years.
