He was a retired former Grocer and Service Station Owner.
He was a member of Alexander Memorial Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Russell Hays.
He was survived by his wife, Ruby; and a son, Samuel Edward Hays of Van Buren. Three sisters, Clara Kilgore, Mary Deffenbaugh and Dorothy Vines all of Van Buren; three brothers, Paul and Donald Hays of Van Buren and Hadley of Jackson, Texas.

Funeral service was held August 20, 1991 at Ocker Memorial Chapel, officiated by Reverend Johnny Clayton, Reverend Richard Hubbard and Reverend Ron Batchelor with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Walter Thomson, Wayne Samples, Dale Griffin, Frank Newman, John Smith and John Smith Jr. 

Clinton Earl HAYS and Ruby MOTLEY were married.⁸⁵ Ruby MOTLEY⁵⁷ was born on 19 April 1918. She died on 1 February 2004 at the age of 85 in Crawford County, Arkansas.

Ruby Ellen Motley Hays, 85, of Van Buren died Sunday, February 1, 2004, in her home.

She was a homemaker and a member of Rena Road Christian Church in Van Buren, and a member of the Wood Memorial Christian Church Women's Guild, a graduate of Arkansas Tech University, was an elementary school teacher having retired after 40 years of service at Albert Pike Elementary School, was a member of Secret Sisters Society and the Retired School Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton "Earl" Hays, a son, Russell Hays.

She was survived by her son, Samuel Edward Hays; a brother, John Motley of Hot Springs Village; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at Ocker Funeral home with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery.

225	i.	William Russell HAYS57,85 was born on 22 September 1947 in Hamburg, Ashley County, Arkansas. He was adopted in 1956. He died on 29 November 1985 at the age of 38. SSDI has his birthdate as 22 Sep 1949; his brother sent an email with 1947. Russuell was survived by his wife Pamela, and twin sons, Clint Hays of Cedarville AR, and Cliff Hays of Rudy, AR. Russell "Rusty" Hays, 36 of Van Buren, died Friday, November , 1985 in his home. He was the son of Clinton "Earl" and Ruby Hays. He was a lifelong resident of Van Buren, a driver for Acee Milk Co. and attended the Alexander Memorial Christian Church. He was survived by his wife, Pamela; two sons, Cliff and Clint of the home; his parents, Ruby and Earl Hays of Van Buren; two sisters, Melissa Gay of Corsicana, Texas and Susan Ritchie of Hampton; and a brother, Sam Hays of Van Buren. Funeral service was held at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery.
