THE HIGBEE NEWS, Higbee, MO, dated 11 Feb 1910 reveals a strange story. James Turner abandoned his wife and children in 1862 and disappeared. Children from the 1880 census appear to be Frank W. b. 1855 in KY, H. Sidney b. 1857 in KY, S. Laura, b. 1858 in KY, Ophelia b. 1861 in KY, and Nannie E.b. 1862 in Missouri. In 1899, he returned and after about 18 months it was discovered that he had gone to Illinois and married another woman, moving to Kansas approximately 1875 where he raised a second family. One of the sons of the 2nd family, Frank Haden of Parsons KS, sued his half-brother, H. Sidney Haden for part of their father's farm. James Turner Haden had died about 1908. The trial was imminent at the time of this newspaper article. [MORANDOL-L@rootsweb.com]
