Don't know when Joe Pickens went to Texas. Joe was still in Alabama with his father in 1880. His uncle Dr. Andrew Gibson Pickens was in Fannin Co; Dr. Pickens died there in 1887.

Joseph and Cordova were 3rd cousins once removed - Joe was a descendant of the Hadens who settled in Alabama. I wonder if they ever knew this.

Joe A. Pickens and Joseph B. Haden were partners in business from 1900-1903.
1900 Census lists Joe Pickens as a dry goods merchant.

It's interesting that in 1900, there was another Joseph A. Pickens living in Fannin Co. He was born Mar 1843 (age 47) in Tennessee. He and his wife, Mary A. are buried in Lindsey Cemetery in Fannin Co.

Joseph Andrew PICKENS and Cordova HADEN were married on 22 March 1888 in Fannin County, Texas.3,770,964 Cordova HADEN218,658,1070, daughter of WILLIAM FRANKLIN HADEN and MARY JANE PERKINS, was born on 1 September 1870 in Ladonia, Fannin County, Texas.650,653 She died on 4 December 1961 at the age of 91 in Quanah, Hardeman County, Texas.

Cordova is not on the 1870 US Census in Fannin County TX with the rest of her family - according to her Death Certificate she was born in September of that year, so should not have been there.
In 1880: Cordova listed in the FamilySearch Census transcript as age 9.

In 1900, she as listed as "Cordy" in the Census.
Found Birthday Card from Cordie to dear Bud Joe postmarked 27 Jul 1950 from Quanah, Hardeman County, TX.

[Mrs. J. A. Pickens, sister, was the only sibling still living when J. B. Haden died, 1953.]

Cordova died of a "vascular accident" - she had had a stroke a week previously. The informant for the death certificate was her daughter, Mrs. R. L. Watt. Mrs. Watt did not not Cordova's father's given name but did list her mother as Mary Jane Pickens. Cordova is buried Quanah Cemetery.
