LOUIS G. HADEN was born in Louisiana, near Baton Rouge, July 14, 1846, and is a son of Robert H. and Jane E. (Curtis) Haden, the former of who was a native of Kentucky, and the latter a native of Louisiana. They were of Scotch-Irish and French descent, respectively. Robert H. Haden received his early education in his native county. When a young man he removed to Louisiana, where he was married, and where he followed his trade (that of a house carpenter) for some eight years. In 1846 he returned to Franklin, Simpson Co., Ky., where he continued to follow his trade for some twenty years. He then engaged in farming in the same county for about ten years, when he removed to Muhlenburgh County, KY., where he resided for some eight years; thence removed to Christian County, remaining about five years; thence in 1885, to Providence, Tenn., where he now resides. [Memo by D.S. that edition of Perrin's original publication date was about 1886.] Mrs. Jane E. Haden departed this life November 20, 1871. She was a devoted member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Haden has been for many years a member of the Christian Church and was formerly a member of the S. of T., and of the I. O. G. T. Louis G. Haden received a good common school education in youth, and was employed on his father's farm until he attained his majority, after which he continued to farm on the home place, on his own account, for several years. He then removed to Christian County, Ky., where he was engaged in agricultural pursuits for some four years. In March, 1882, he came to Rockport, Ohio Co., KY, where he has since resided, and been engaged in the drug trade and in general merchandising with S. & M. J. Reid, under the firm name of Reid, Haden & Do. He was married March 30, 1876, to Mollie A. Sharp, a native of Muhlenburgh County. No children have been left to them. Mr. Haden and wife are devoted members of the Christian Church. He was formerly a member of the I.O.G.T. In politics he is a Democrat.

Searching for decsendants of: Eugene S. Haden, Sr. b. April 1850/Simpson Co., KY d. May 24, 1927/Peoria, IL. married on April 2, 1874/Twin Grove, McLean Co., IL to: Catharine 'Kate' Sharbine b. October 11, 1852/Somerset Co., PA d. January 2, 1924/Peoria, IL. The Peoria, IL 1900 census shows they had a total of 5 children, 4 of which were living at the time. They were: Walter G Haden b. August 1878 d. ? William H Haden b. September 1882 d. February 1929/Peoria,IL Eugene S. Haden Sr. b. February 1887 d. abt 1948/Chicago? Earl 'Rodney' Hayden Sr. b. August 11, 1891 d. October 26, 1967/Savanna, IL My father, Rodney Earl Hayden, Jr. never knew any of his uncles. He is trying to locate their decsendants. He doesn't think William H was married or had any children so that leaves Eugene S. Haden, Jr and Walter Haden. Earl Sr. had changed the spelling of his last name to HAYDEN, so there is a chance that Walter and Eugene Jr. did the same. Supposedly, Eugene Jr. was in the loan business at or before the time of his death in the Chicago area, possibly Maywood or Melrose Park. Eugene Jr., WIlliam and possibly Walter, operated a car dealership in Peoria in the 1920s, called Hayden or Haden Brothers. My dad says you can still make out the painted advertisement on the side of one of the old brick buildings in downtown Peoria to this day. Walter, or possibly the 5th Haden son may have been killed in a train accident out west, possibly in Oregon prior to 1900.

I have been looking for a line on the Hayden. Your info is apparantly on the money except for name of Jane, and place of birth and spelling of "Hayden". My mother reported, before her death, that Jennie Belle was born in Sept. 1861, Bowling Green, Warren, Kentucky.
I thought you might be interested in this information.

I appreciate the info and straightening me out. Now that I think about it, I believe I added the county because it was Bowling Green, and that's what I was given.
As for her death, I appologize that I have only a month and year. I even attended the funeral, I was 11yrs old at the time. She died, November, 1954, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.
I am attaching three pictures that might be of interest to you. The first is of her and her husband, Sam Louis Holloway. The next is of her taken in 1869 when she would have been approx. eight years old. The Third is of her brother, Tyree Joseph Hayden, taken Easter, 1946, a couple of months before he died.
