Jane HADEN and Col. Casper "White Eyes" SMITH were married on 29 December 1817 in Rowan County, North Carolina. Col. Casper "White Eyes" SMITH, son of Gaspar SMITH and Ann "Nancy" MCQUIRE, was born on 10 May 1796. He died on 30 January 1842 at the age of 45.

Casper and Jane had nine children. Soon after her death, he remarried to Jane Adderton. He had married nearly two years, when he decided to visit his holdings on the other side of the Yadkin. He and his Negro servant were drowned. another of his brothers, George, was successful in finding the body and Casper was laid to rest beside his wife.

Buried Jersey Baptist Church. Drowned.
