1115. David Samuel COMFORT⁹⁸² was born on 1 May 1827 in Logan County, Kentucky.^982,983 He died on 1 February 1862 at the age of 34 in Jackson, Tennessee.⁹⁸³

In the 1850 Census, David is listed as a Merchant, living next to J. W. and Jos. A. Comfort in Kosiusko MS. All three men born in Kentucky.

The newspaper article states his birth year as 1797 - but this has to be an error based on Census records and other facts.

Died in Jackson, TN on 1 Feb 1862, Col. David S. Comfort of 3rd Regt MS Volunteers. Col. Comfort was born in Logan Co KY on May 2 1797 [this is an error - born 1827; the Comforts were not in Logan Co that early]. and moved with his parents at an early age to Madison Co MS. When he attained mature age he settled at Koscuisko where practiced the profession of law for several years but afterwards engaged in the mercantile business. He fell victim to a malignant fever while commanding his regiment near Columbus, KY. His mortal remains brought to Kosciusko.

David Samuel COMFORT and Martha C. WHITE were married.⁹⁸² Martha C. WHITE was born on 11 August 1834 in Georgia.⁹⁸² She died on 13 May 1899 at the age of 64 in Kosciusko, Attala County, Mississippi.

Martha is buried, Kosciusko City Cemetery.

Mary Matilda COMFORT was born on 19 January 1853 in Attala County, Mississippi. She died in Attala County, Mississippi. This little girl died young. Her grave marker has a lamb. It is marked as daugh. of David S. & Martha C. Comfort. Born Jan 19, 1853. The stone has sunk into the ground - "Died" shows, but no date.
